Untitled [Mourning Monument]
The sculpture Untitled [Mourning Monument] is a reaction to the far-right shooting at the city of Hanau in Germany (19.02.2020). It refers to public spaces of mourning that appeared shortly after the shooting.
It consists of mourning lights that are typically used for such spaces with the names of 208 victims of far-right terror in Germany since 1990. The mourning lights are glued and tied together to form a monument that resembles Tatlin's Tower. Only the mourning light on top has a candle and a golden cover.
Installed in front of the famous historical cemetery of Weimar it refers to the designated area of mourning. But it remains outside of the protective walls confronting the present time public.
